While reviewing financial information immediately following a recent fundraiser, officers of the Board of Directors for the Arizona Browncoats discovered several concerning discrepancies. Further investigation in conjunction with our financial service provider determined that funds from the bank account belonging to the Arizona Browncoats, Inc have been misappropriated for personal use by a member of the Board of Directors. Additional investigation is ongoing, and law enforcement have been contacted in regards to the matter.
We, the Board of Directors of the Arizona Browncoats, are greatly disheartened by this issue and offer a heartfelt apology to our members, our financial supporters, and the organizations we support. We are actively pursuing all avenues to recover the funds stolen and to protect our organization from further harm. Because of this, we will not be collecting additional funds at events until this issue has been rectified. Further information will be released as it becomes available.
The Arizona Browncoats, legally Arizona Browncoats, Inc, are a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit charity. Brought together by our love of the television show Firefly, we aim to do good works in our local community and throughout the ‘Verse, partnering with charities and local businesses to host fundraisers and other events while making friends along the way
